Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic dental bonding is used to conceal minor flaws and fill small cavities in front teeth.
Using mercury-free composite resin materials that are designed to match your natural tooth shade, bonded dental restorations require very little tooth preparation or drilling and can be placed in a single appointment.
- Composite materials are made up of resilient plastics and mineral fillers and are applied using an etch/adhesive technique that literally "bonds" the material to the tooth to support the remaining tooth structure.
- Following preparation of the tooth, Dr. Hooper applies the dental composite material in layers, blending shades as needed to closely match the color of the natural tooth. Each layer is hardened using a special curing light. When the process is finished, Dr. Hooper shapes and polishes the restoration to compliment your smile.
While not as durable or long-lasting as porcelain crowns or cosmetic porcelain veneers, bonding can be an economical cosmetic solution to fill small cavities, smooth chipped edges and close spaces between teeth.
Bonding is also a great way to make cosmetic decisions about your smile. Dr. Hooper may temporarily place bonding materials to visually communicate and plan the shape, size and shade of porcelain crowns and veneers to achieve exactly the look that you want.
